Neutral pelvis under movement (not fixed)

What It Does

Trains the pelvis to stay organised under load rather than defaulting to a fixed position. Neutral is not the same as still — it means available to move in any direction without a preset tilt or tuck.

What to Feel

A small, available range of movement through the pelvis that matches the horse's movement without collapsing or bracing. A sense of readiness rather than a held position.

Common Mistakes

  • Confusing stillness with neutrality — a still pelvis under movement is usually being held.
  • Tucking the pelvis in response to being asked to stay neutral.
  • Losing neutral at gait transitions rather than carrying it through.
