Lower leg stabilisation through alignment (gravity not grip)

What It Does

Builds the understanding that a stable lower leg is a by-product of correct load management from above, not of gripping or actively pressing below. Gravity does the work when the alignment is right.

What to Feel

The leg settling into a stable position as weight drops through it without active gripping. An ease in the lower leg rather than effort.

Common Mistakes

  • Deliberately pressing the calf against the horse to create stability.
  • Confusing pushing the heel down with dropping weight through the foot.
  • Trying to hold the leg still rather than letting alignment hold it.
